Linux

I've tried it in the past, but never seen the need for it - what with Windows being able to do everything I need.

However, as I've started putting together my mini-itx PC, powered by a super-slow-super-low-power CPU (<600MHz), with a 2.2GB Microdrive and 384MB RAM, I have come to realise that XP may not be suitable.

This afternoon I've been getting to grips with DSL (Damn Small Linux), which is damn small. At 50MB it's less than 1% the size of a bloated XP install! So far I've successfully partitioned the 2.2GB Microdrive for Linux and it's currently running Memtest to ensure the old SD-RAM sticks I found lying around, are good to go.

Then tomorrow, whilst hungover, I'll begin installing DSL itself - and see how it performs. Afterall, I only need Firefox working, along with Remote Access to my server - situated in the loft.

I feel geekier than normal, as Linux is the epitome of geekdom.
