SlickCMS Classic ASP
A Blog/CMS inspired by WordPress, built using VBScript in Classic ASP and SQL Server
My first attempts at websites (apart from GCSE ICT) went live in 2003. I started with basic HTML Framesets, as a way of having a consistent navigation and theme, but multiple pages.
I then hosted a WordPress Blog for a few years and used it on a couple of client sites too. This is around version 2 of WordPress, named after some famous Jazz musician.
I had used WordPress enough to know the basic functionality that a Blog/CMS required and set about building my own, in VBScript (Classic ASP), using SQL Server for the database. WordPress itself uses PHP, with MySQL for the database. I kept to a similar schema - and even ported all of the Posts and Comments across, when it came to switching it all live.
The resulting project is SlickCMS! It's available on GitHub as slickcms-classic-asp
(not to be confused with SlickCMS).
Although the project is now a Public archive on GitHub, it is still actively used on Snippets.
