Blue PC Project Log 11 - 12th June 2006 Another log split into several sections - starting with the window... ^ First up, I assembled together all the tools I needed to mark out the cutout for the window. ^ Then it was a simple case of covering the acrylic with masking tape... ^ The first cut proved to be easy. I was surprised how easy the stuff is to work with, which is good news at this stage. ^ The only side effect is all the pink dust left from the cutting - it got everywhere. ^ A shot just for mattthegamer463 - this is the window beading removed and it still holds its shape well when not in place! I wont be glueing it in place, as the window pretty much clamps it down, preventing any more movement. ^ With the acrylic cut, it was now time to drill the holes on the sidepanel. ^ 8 holes in total, all symmetrical. ^ Once I had drilled all the sidepanel holes, I drilled the first in the acrylic, then bolted it to the panel and carried on drilling/bolting. This made alignment of the holes much easier. ^ The burr from each hole was then filed down with the needle files. ^ Then I resorted to the rotary tool, as it was a lot faster. ^ Peeling back the masking tape for the first time... ^ Uncovered... ^ And bolted in place. ^ All was fine, until I went to fit the sidepanel back on the case - the window was too wide, which obstructed the sidepanel from fitting properly. ^ To save some masking tape, I used the bag that it came in, to protect the rest of the window. Then it was a simple case of cutting off another 10mm on one side. ^ A shot showing the inside of the finished window. ^ As you can see, in natural daylight the 'RED' window gives off pink light. I know the Mrs wont complain, but it isn't ideal. ^ Again, pink light. I'm hoping the cathodes correct it, otherwise this will end up as Project Pink PC MKII.
