Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Normally I’d mention this in the lounge, if at all. But after watching the trailer, I’m very impressed:

Star Wars: The Clone Wars theatrical trailer

Out towards the end of summer, I can see it being one of the bigger, if not the biggest films this year. And I can’t wait…

Prison Break, Season One

This afternoon we managed to watch Episodes 21 and 22, the last of Prison Break Season One.

I thought we were at this stage a fortnight ago, as I’d only downloaded Episodes 1 - 14 of the first season - which meant when we started on Episode 2 of Season 2, there were a lot of unanswered questions. The prisoners had managed to escape, yet we hadn’t seen any of it.

A quick check on the official site proved us right - we were missing a few episodes. So for those of you thinking of downloading a TV series any time soon - check the seeder is actually seeding the whole series!

So, we’ve been catching up and have finally seen all 22 Episodes. And what a great season it is! The plot is great - even though you know they’ll make it out, it’s interesting to see WHO will actually make it and what trouble they’ll face in the process. Michael’s planning is spotless to the point that it’s obsessive. The characters each play a valuable role throughout the 22 Episodes.

If you’ve not yet seen Prison Break, then acquire it any way you can. We’re going to start on Season 2 tomorrow, but I’ve also got Heroes to start, along with Season 1 and 2 of Entourage. Let me know what American TV Series you’ve been following recently and how you rate them.

Band of Brothers

It has taken a good few years for me to finally get round to watching Band of Brothers. Originally aired in 2001, the mini-series comprises of 10 episodes - each around 70 minutes long.

The box-set usually retails for £50+, but whilst visiting HMV the other week, I spotted it for £20! Since then, we’ve watched an episode per evening - viewing the final tonight.

You can never tired of war films - there are plenty to see and you know what to expect. Band of Brothers is in a different league though and highly recommended by myself. If you’re like me and have yet to see the entire mini-series, or you want to see it again, then grab the box-set. Looking at HMV online, it’s only £14.99!

Bourne Ultimatum

Last night we went to see the preview of the Bourne Ultimatum - the 3rd (and possibly final?) of the Bourne series.

As the last film we’d seen in the Cinema was Harry Potter, a month or so ago - there was plenty to choose from this week. Evan Almighty, Transformers and The Simpsons movie for a start (the latter of which we’re off to see next week).

Looking back, I’m glad we opted for Bourne, as it’s a great film throughout the 111 minutes. As usual, I wont give anything major away, but you’ve probably gathered from the trailers and posters that Jason Bourne has started to remember, which leads to a fast-paced plot as he uncovers more and more of his past.

The only downside in some people’s eyes, is the lack of a steadicam. IMDB reviewers mention the shaky filming that lasts the entire duration. Anneka even felt dizzy during some scenes. But I believe it’s the choice of the director, who made the first two films fairly shaky. Ultimatum uses the ’shaky’ cam during both conversation scenes and action sequences. I suppose it throws you right in, letting you believe you’re sitting behind Jason as he chats away, or dodging fists as he struts his (big-chinned/nosed) stuff.

If you’re sitting around tonight, wondering what to do - then pop down to your local cinema and enjoy the delights of the third film in the Bourne trilogy, Bourne Ultimatum. It’ll be worth your pennies.
