Naming Conventions
I’ve found computers to be easy to name in the past… for example, my laptop is named after its model number [R50e]; my main PC is named after the project title I used whilst making it [Red19]; my fileserver is self explanatory [Fileserver]; Anneka’s PC is named after the project name I used whilst making it too [Pinky]. At work, I’ve named/numbered them according to location - so in the Community Learning Centre, they’re CLC## [CLC01] onwards.
I have just purchased a room full of PCs along with a second server, for a new training room we’re having built. Naming them could have been plain and boring - Sims## for example (Sims being the name of the building).
But, being the [semi]Geek that I am, I decided to use another method. After a few minutes racking my brain for ideas, I stumbled across this wiki page, detailing the Star Wars galaxy. Sucess! Name them after galaxies/planets/moons in the Star Wars universe. I needed 10 for each client PC, as the fileserver was to remain plain and boring [Fileserver]. Instead of picking 10 of the most famous planets, I opted for Star Wars Galaxies choice of planets:
- Corellia
- Dantooine
- Dathomir
- Endor
- Lok
- Naboo
- Rori
- Talus
- Tatooine
- Yavin4
The more observant/geeky of you will notice that some are in fact, moons. But I was pleased that I didn’t have to manually pick 10. And as it’s from the Star Wars universe - if the number of client PCs ever expands, I can always pick a few more from the huge list.
Keeping on topic - I don’t remember the terrain in Galaxies looking this good.

Ok, maybe your right, those textures look to be higher res and there is more flora detail. Still its not that much better.

The shadows look nice on the Tusken/Bantha screenshot. Bah! Some of them pics bring back a lot of memories - especially the last, wasn’t that when I bugged out and appeared naked? Even though I had a full set of clothing/armour on?

I’ve tried to get SWGEmu going, but Bria Reborn doesn’t appear to be letting me connect - it spends ages logging in, but the server appears in the list and is apparently online. Ah well.

I left it downloading all the patches so that I could try out the original game and see what it looks like… Adamskii - you say your character has been deleted? I have about 8 still on mine, including Lazlow on Bria! I logged on, to find I had many items I vaguely remember, along with the option to re-spec my character. I chose Jedi, and have already got most of the skills from the re-spec.
I can’t remember who I gave my account to, but they’ve left me with quite a lot of items (armour mainly) and some old skool weapons, along with about 160k credits. But the game seems shite, the controls are different and everything seems crap - even the graphics look poor with everything turned up fully. I wonder what we ever saw in this game - they’ve properly ruined it now.
Over the weekend I’ll mess around and try to put together this lightsaber from all the bits I have been given… I don’t know how long my account has left either, but it seems someone has paid for it for a looooong time.

The game seemed totally ruined aye, the controls were wank and the combat is totally fucked. It deffo did look worse too, im not sure how they managed that, seem like you have to choose between heat haze or Anti aliasing which you never used to.
My character seemed to have long gone yeah, i guess you finished playing after me and well if someone was using your account then no wonder.
