Favourite header?

I should be producing some more headers for this blog soon, but until then you'll have to make do with the current lot, which you can view here [link removed 2008-01-30].

Take a look at them, or hit refresh on your browser (usually F5). Then tell me what you're favourite one is, or at least one you particularly like - and why.

I may be biased in saying that they're all good, but this [link removed 2008-01-30]. one is pretty cool - probably because of the lighting and the fact that I spent 5 minutes lining them up properly...

New Style!

The observant ones out there may have noticed that the style of the blog has changed slightly. The font type, size and colour have been changed to co-incide with my new website. Hopefully I'll have it up and running within the next week or two, but I still have a lot of copy to finish for it.

It's quite scary how much it looks like my blog, but I guess the style and layout works well.

Ice Age 2

At Hemswell Market yesterday, I decided to pick up two DVDs to see what the 'quality' was like. Afterall, the games that I had purchased from there in the past work very well.

So Ice Age 2 and Over the Hedge were promptly purchased for a fiver. Not bad.

Last night we sat down to watch Ice Age 2, but we ended up a little disappointed. The sound quality was terrible, with lots of background hissing - and what sounded like the projector whirring away. However, we could make out the film quite easily and soon forgot about the lack of decent DVD quality.

The film itself is very good, better than the original with laughs throughout. Though I am glad I chose to see the Inside Man at the cinema, instead of this. Both are great films and for £2.50, Ice Age 2 from Hemswell is a lot cheaper than the £6.50 cinema tickets.

More information here.

Hello again!

It's been a long time...

But I'm back (yet again). This time for good it seems - as my server has sorted itself out now and no core files are appearing anymore, in this blog and Adamskii's.

So, expect many more posts from me over the next few days, as I bring you up to speed with what I'm up to. A quick taster:

* Today I went to Hemswell Market again, though as it was a bank holiday, it was very quiet with a few stalls. However, we did find a small computer shop amongst the many buildings there, which was like an aladdin's cave for us geeks. After 30 minutes or so of browsing, I picked up 4 replacement creative soundworks speakers, along with many metres of speaker cable. This should allow me to route the various cables around my room a bit better.

* My parents came up for the weekend. Apart from the meals out, we installed a mains power supply and network socket in the attic. Over the next few weeks I'll be re-doing the loft insulation and adding some boards to the rafters. Then I'll migrate my black server up into the attic, to leave it on 24/7. 1.4tb of hidden network storage. Expect a project log soon with more information.

* My new PC is coming along a treat. I've started on the modification of the case and you can read the full worklog here. I've also ordered the monitor I'll be using for it - the Acer Ferrari 19" (20" review here). I'm almost definately going AM2, as there is no point in buying a socket 939 rig now, as it will soon be out of date. I know AM2 hasn't received great press, but it's in its infancy. Most likely an Athlon 64 X2 4000, as it was 2 x 1mb L2 Cache and the core is named Windsor. Perfect.

* I'm halfway through installing our new interactive whiteboard at work. I'm wondering if Counter-Strike would work on it, though it's 66" in size.

Anyway, hopefully this version of my blog will be nice and stable, allowing me to carry on blogging and you lot to carry on reading.

The past fortnight

Thought I'd give you all a brief summary of the past few weeks, in the life of Lazlow:

* Mission Impossible 3 - Fecking great film. The trailer looked really good, but the film was outstanding. Great action scenes, OK plot. MI:3 is well worth seeing!

* Little Britain Live! - for my 22nd birthday, I was given two tickets to go and see David Walliams and Matt Lucas in Nottingham Arena. The show was hilarious, proving that the Little Britain formula works on Radio, on TV and on Stage. Unfortunately we couldn't take photographs, though they would have all been blurry anyway - as I was non-stop laughing all the way through it. They had all the main characters, spanning all 3 series from the TV. From the start, where Andy flies into his wheelchair using a jetpack, the laughs just keep on coming.

* My birthday! Last Friday we travelled to Nottingham; did a bit of shopping; checked in to the Hilton Hotel; ate at a great Thai restaurant; went to watch LB; went shopping on Saturday; travelled back; had a few beers; watched films/tv all day Sunday. Simple.

* PC - I posted recently about the proposed specs of my new machine. I'm still undecided about which to opt for, but I can leave that for now. In the free time that I've had over the past week or two, I've started work on modifying the Enermax case I have lying around. So far so good. After many hours of doodling, I have a rough idea of how it will end up looking. I also had a go in Google's recently acquired Sketchup at modelling the case, but I gave up after realising it was far simpler drawing it. Sketchup is OK, but it lacks all the features of a decent graphics program, such as Autocad or Max. Still, it is free.

* Slickhouse - Before I wrote this, I had a quick glance at where I was at with the new version of slickhouse. Bah I'm lazy! It's good shit, but it needs finishing and uploading. Watch this space...

That's about all I can think of writing. My short-term memory seems to have been permanently damaged by alcohol from University. I blame no-one.
