Go to Lincoln
Adamskii(i), go to Lincoln this Thursday!
There’s nothing else to do, apart from practice Bowls and become the next Blackball king in Torquay.
Go to Lincoln and get some crunk juice. Travel up in your Mondeo blasting out some House music to keep the local bays happy.
I’ll also mention that at the Glass House, you can get a 9-shot Vodka/Redbull for £6…
Perfect.
Alien Autopsy
Ant and Dec are probably a ‘love them or hate them’ kinda duo. I know several people who absolutely deteste them, but on the other hand, I know those that think they’re great. Byker Grove was cool when they were in it…
So, using my ‘cool’ formula, Alien Autopsy is cool because they are in it.
I went to see it on release day (Friday) as there’s nothing else interesting in the cinema at the moment, and I’ve not been for a month or so - in fact the last film I did see at the cinema was Munich.
I vaguely remember the fuss back in 1995 about the video, so I wont go into any detail about that. But the film itself is very very good. I was surprised to see that IMDB gave it 1.5/10. But that’s the Americans for you - they probably didn’t ‘get it’.
Empire (on the flipside) gave it 3 stars which isn’t bad, and Jonathan Ross said he loved the film.
My verdict? Ant and Dec can act. I used to be one of the detesters, until I saw one of them down a pint, in under 3 seconds on live TV - though I keep forgetting which is which.
The plot is very good, based on the true story of the Alien Autopsy video aired in 1995 around the world. It’s also from a different perspective to what you’d expect, with a few twists here and there for good measure.
If I had a ratings system for films, I’d give this film a 7/10.
Holiday…
…celebrate!
Along with the standard Bank Holidays on Good Friday and Easter Monday, we’ve been asked to take off the week following easter (17th-21st).
So I should have about 10 days off, of which I’m only using up 4 of my 25 a year.
It’s Crunk time!
Hustle and Flow
An outstanding film this is. I’d wanted to see it when I first watched the trailer in the Lincoln ODEON. But being Lincoln, the film was never released here…
So I had to await the DVD release.
Think of it as 8 Mile but with a great actor and (in my view) better songs. I like Eminem, I’m not denying that - but Hustle and Flow is leaps and bounds ahead of 8 Mile. The storyline is very good, and has a great twist towards the end (once DJay goes to meet Skinny - Ludacris). Surely the best bit of the film is watching them put together a great tune, from what was initially a bash on a ‘fisher-price’ keyboard.
Ludacris (as usual) does a great job in this film, and Terence Howard deserved the Best Actor award. I’d almost say it’s on par with Crash - although it revolved around several key characters, Hustle and Flow concentrates on one man’s struggle to make it big. I wont spoil the ending, but it’s left a bit open and allows the audience to decide DJay’s fate.
If you watch it, you’ll also spot DJ Qualls from Road Trip fame - the skinny, lanky guy. I laughed when I read on IMDB that he used to model for Prada and Calvin Klein.

April Fools was mediocre
In fact, April fools wasn’t foolish at all.
I only managed to play the one prank, which worked to a certain extent, but not as well as I had originally hoped.
I turned off the power switch on Simon’s PSU whilst he was in the bathroom having a shit I believe…
I was hoping he’d presume his power supply had blown, and would spend a few hours stripping his computer down, and rebuilding it - trying to solve the problem. He admitted he initially thought it had blown and was gutted. But soon after he noticed the switch and flipped it over.
So an April fools day wasted.
Simon almost had me on the ‘Newegg to buy Dell‘ fool. I didn’t think it could be possible though, seeing as Newegg is a medium (at best) size online retailer, whereas Dell owns 30% of the PC market and has recently purchased Alienware.
