IT Crowd
You’ll no doubt see blogging on this subject from me in the near future - heck, I may even add (yet) another category to my blog!
If you’ve been watching Channel 4 lately, you’ll have spotted the various trailers for IT Crowd - the new comedy, airing on Friday nights (from 03/02/06 onwards).
From what I’ve seen so far, it’s going to be great. Finally a geeky comedy for us IT folk. Sure, it’s going to rip the shit out of us, but it’ll do it well…
More here.
Aramiska
Ara… who? Don’t worry about the naming of this post, I just thought I’d name and shame while I’m at it.
I received an e-mail this a.m. from work’s ISP, saying that from today is the last day of service they’ll be providing, as they’re presumably going under.
Thanks for the heads up.
Satellite broadband doesn’t come cheap, so BT Business Broadband looks like a poundland sale in comparison. A quick phone call away, and this time next week we’ll be connected to our new ISP.
That’s all good then. Except we’ve got no Internet access from Monday to Friday next week, which means no e-mail, no e-learning, and more importantly - no blogging! Well, there will be, but from the comfort of my sofa instead.
A note to all ISPs out there, or those hoping to provide Internet access in the near future - give your consumers a good business week’s notice. We’re without Internet access for an awful long time in business terms, especially considering most businesses function primarily via online communication.
Jarhead
Last night we went to see Jarhead.
Since first seeing the trailers in the cinemas a few months back, I’ve been intrigued by the film…
If you’re expecting a balls out, (mince!) action packed, war fest of a movie, then you’ll be disappointed. In fact, you’ll probably be bored - as the main character doesn’t fire a single round in the actual war… instead you’re lead into the world of a marine, all the hype, the propoganda, the suck.
I started reading the book at the beginning of the week, and seeing as I’ve only ever read 2 books, reaching 10 pages by the end of the week is quite something for me (I’m no bookworm). What was surprising, is that within the first 10 pages of the book, is over half of the film. So this weekend I’m going to be looking at the rest, to pick up on where the film left off…
I’m still unsure of whether or not Jarhead has a hidden message. Anneka was disappointed by the ending, and it left me wondering… just as you finally get the feeling some action is going to take place, the war ends, and with it the film.
It’s more Shakespeare than John Woo, but it’s damn good.
Welcome to the suck.
Disney to buy Pixar!
I’ve just read a short news story that talks about Disney wanting to purchase Pixar…
What I didn’t realise is that Pixar is currently owned by Steve Jobs - the guy behind iPods, Macs and all that shiznit.
This is a good move on Disney’s part I believe, as they’ve worked in the past on various projects (Toy Story for example), which have turned out very well.
It could also mean though, that we’ll see Mickey Mouse and his crew on video iPods.
I wonder if they will indeed purchase Pixar, and if so, in time for the Cars release. Interesting stuff…
